The Great-Horned owl, when trying to protect its nest or young, will often feign being wounded, so as to distract a predator or intruder. Many other birds in the wild exhibit such behavior when exposed to potential threats. |

The Black Winged Stilt, exhibits a unique natural adaptation to its hot environment. The parent bird will dip its belly in water at frequent intervals, and then return to the nest to keep the eggs and the young cool during hot, scorching summer days. |

Different birds have been seen to clean their nests frequently, as they bring food back to their young. Often parent birds will devour any left overs or residue from nests, to keep it clean and tidy for their young. |

The Little Grebe, is a clever duck like bird. It builds a floating nest of reeds which it anchors to the bottom. If the water level rises, the bird will undo the anchor so that the nest can rise with the water. It will also cleverly cover its nest and young in wet reeds at the first sign of danger or before leaving the nest in search of food. |
