Birding Locations in Saurashta and Gujarat:
- Velavadar Blackbuck Sanctuary - The Blackbuck sanctuary at Velavadar is not only the best site for observing large herds of the elusive Blackbuck antelopes of India, but is also a haven for bird watchers and enthusiasts. The Great Indian Bustard, Lesser Florican, large variety of birds of prey, and an occasional Sarus pair are just a few of the birding charms of this location.
- Victoria Park Reserve - This unique forested tract in the heart of Bhavnagar city houses not only a large variety of wild animals, but also is a great location for spotting a variety of Indian birds including water birds, birds of prey, owls, and various others.
- Sasan Gir National Park - This world renowned national park is not only famous for common sightings of the Asiatic Lion, but also for large variety of animals and bird sightings.
- Eastern Geer National Park - Wonderful location for spotting Lions, Leopards, Chital, Wildboar and many other rare animals as well as a large variety of birds.
- Surendranagar District - Different areas in this district adjacent to Bhavnagar, have vulture breeding sites, Sarus breeding sites and various other birdlife.
- Little Rann of Kutchh - This arid and marshy landscape is home to the last surviving herds of the Indian Wild Ass. Large variety of birds found in this area include Flamingoes, Cranes and various birds of prey.
- Bhavnagar Coastline - Different select areas along the coastline of Bhavnagar are wonderful for sightings of flocks of Demoiselle and Eurasian cranes, Flamingoes, and a large variety of gulls, terns and birds of prey.
